an established specialist infrastructure organisation, we have in place flexible & practical services to help front line youth groups, clubs and projects to deliver their work with and for young people. It's our experience that local children & young people's groups require specialist support from an organisation which is totally dedicated to the development of good practice in children and young people's work.
"we have much to thank Kent Youth for and strongly recommend that any
organisation providing youth services, whether existing or new, benefits from its
affiliation services. Kent Youth is pro-active in its provision, all on a cost effective
basis. We commend Kent Youth as a one-stop shop for youth service provision"
We have in place minimum standards that we believe children and young people's groups should adhere to to ensure safe, effective, fun and legal places to go. All of our connect programmes are designed to enable these standards to be achieved, maintained and built upon. Our connect affiliation services include:
- Club Pack issued FREE of charge to voluntary sector members (it can be purchased for £50). This is a comprehensive guide containing jargon free information, advice, guidance, ideas as well as model policies, documents and ready to use forms.
- Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures - we are an umbrella registered body enabling groups to help keep young people safe. We provide three FREE volunteer Disclosures per member group per year. We also provide a Disclosure Service for non-member groups
- STEP by STEP Training - our programme of locally delivered workshops is designed to respond to the issues and questions that front line young people's groups and organisations face. Our sessions are all low cost, practical, jargon free, repeated in different locations, usually evenings or weekend daytimes.
- Funding Support - we can help obtain grants, give guidance on making applications and signposting to funding sources
- Liability Insurance - as a result of Financial Services Authority regulations, we no longer offer a bespoke Kent Youth scheme. However, affiliation to Kent Youth is regarded as a quality measure and part of underwriting criteria for three different low cost national youth specific schemes
- Specialist advice and field visits - whether you are an established group or forming a new project for young people, we can give advice, support and guidance. We have local Club Development Officers in Thames Gateway, West Kent and East Kent but ost of staff make visits to local groups to help identify practical solutions to issues. Our own networks are extensive and so if we can not directly help, we are likely to know someone who can.
- Networking - being part of a network of two hundred like minded organisations and groups removes isolation and opens new opportunities.
- Young people's positive activities - ensuring young people have positive things to do and places to go is essential. To complement our members' programmes, we have in place a county-wide and localised programme of sports, creative, adventure and cultural events.
- Resources - we have equipment which is available for our member groups to borrow to assist their work with children and young people
"The Kent Youth Club Pack is the best resource for setting up a voluntary youth
club that I have come across in 30 years as a youth and community worker"
